Savage Edge?

Has anyone shot or heard anything about the savage edge in .223?
It seems like a good budget bolt action rifle($300).
I would be using it for coyotes and target practice.
Anyone?

Now called "Axis"

"Budget" gun as you phrase it - might want to look for used .223 with more of a track record with that kind of money.............

Saw a review of it on another forum, the shooter had it in .308 and was very impressed with it. This was recently after they had changed the name from Edge to Axis. General impression is you can't go wrong with it for the money. For a little more though you could get a T/C Venture too which is also supposed to be a good little rifle.

I have one in .223 and I can get it to shoot sub MOA groups. The trigger leaves alot to be desired but as a entry level rifle it works just fine. I use mine to shoot pigs. I am probably going to sell it only because I want to get a Savage 110 or 111. I am going to try and get 250.00 for it.

its not the edge anymore, it's called the axis now, pretty good guns for the price.

basix now makes an adjustable trigger for the edge/axis

Appears that this was determined and mentioned almost two weeks previous to this. :p

Re; original post...I've heard nothing but positive things about the gun.

I looked at the Savage Edge in .308, but I thought it looked really cheap. I ended up buying the Marlin XS7 .308, slightly cheaper and much nicer in my opinion. There are many articles putting the Marlin up against the Savage on the internet. You will not be sorry if you buy the Marlin XS7.

most articles iv read about the marlin xs7 was useing the savage model 111 as the opposition, which is better built then the edge or axis.you cant go wrong with a savage 111,ilooked at both and picked the savage.no regrets.

I have been looking at this rifle myself. It does feel pretty cheep, at least the stock does imho. But for the $279 new that I can get it for I might be able to get over that feeling.
