Savage 220F And Ammo
Guys I know there has been many post about the 220F and the ammo used. I'm going to purchase this shotgun in 2 weeks, seems like the majority of the ammo used and liked by this shotgun is the Remington Accu-Tips, but my question is 2-3/4" or 3" shells? Also I know shotguns are iffy & I will try some other brands as well.

I myself use the 3 inch never tried the 2.5 I would go to abes ammo I think it is called you can get them for 11.99 per box. RIght now they are out of stock and no one seems to have them. Just dont use Hornady.

I'm going to purchase it the week of December 13th, this is after our annual 6 day deer season. Purchasing it from Cabelas, I have over $200 in gift cards, I also have their coupon that gives off at the register $100 if you spend over $500, plus I have points from my Cabelas Visa, in no rush to sight it in, I will wait for nicer weather, spring of 2011

Nice gun!!! I wouldn't worry much about the type of ammo you run through it, I think you will be happy with any good Sabot, be it winchester, Remington, federal, etc, I personally like the 2 3/4 I think it is just a little more accurate at longer range, Good luck Doc

I tried both the 2 3/4 and 3 inch Remington Accu Tips. My gun seemed to like the 2 3/4 and actually in my circle of friends, we account for 4 of these...all seemed to prefer the 2 3/4.
We tried the Federal, Hornady and both sizes in Remington's...it seemed that since February, the 2 3/4 were hard to come by...so we ended up getting 4 cases between 3 of us. Course we like to shoot alot at the range. |
Where do you get cases of these at? How many are in a case, also?

Does Lightfield made a slug for the 20?
|
yes Lightfield makes a 20ga slug, but since the Savage has a fast twist the Lightfields won't perform as well as other slugs
|
Ok, I have great accurcey with them in 12ga. Was just wondering as I am going to buy this 220F as I hunted with a gun last weekend for the 1st time in over 15 years. I would bowhunt during the gun seasons but not no more.

Rick out of Remington 11-87 12ga I also love the Lightfields
