I've gone exclusively to the 7-08 lately. I've used and killed plenty of deer with the .270, .280, 7 Rem Mag and others. The 7-08 is now my go-to deer rifle, and it's an easy one to work up loads for. I'm currently shooting 140 gr. AccuBonds and will try 120 gr.'s this summer. I just see no reason to look elsewhere anymore.....

Okay then.............270 & 7-08 is like duplicating your efforts.
Get a 7MM rem mag or a .300 win mag and have a broader spectrum of rifle calibers to choose from !

I have a 7mm-08 and this has always been one of my favorite calibers for deer hunting. That was until i bought a 308. I know, i know, 308 = boring but i don't care. To me its probably the best round for hunting deer available. Back to the 7mm-08... the recoil is about the same out of my rifle as the 308 (both Savage rifles) but the rifle shooting the 7 has been showing some pretty poor accuracy. Now comes the problem, i can only find Winchester 140 7mm-08 at local stores for about $28 a box. I want to try other ammo to see if that improves accuracy but can't find much selection unless i want to pay close to $40 a box. That is my beef with the 7mm-08. Other than that, some consider it the best deer caliber around. Light rifles, light recoil, and high BC.

actually i would have no idea how to reload. I have a number of rifles that all shoot well with regular Rem Corelokts (3006, 308, 30-30) but this one savage 7mm-08 just won't group less than about 8" all over the target.

IMO it's likely one of the following
Action bedding
barrel pressure from the stock
seriously bad crown
Loose barrel (yes....I had one once)

There's a wide choice of 7mm-08 available on-line.
I just brought managed recoil remmington ammo.
We'll try it next week. I am sure the M_R ammo at 100-200 yards will knock anything over.
using standand ammo, It kicks more than my .243 but way less than my .30-06
I can't wait to try the M-R ammo.
