Browning78

Finally gotout to shoot the 78 I bought a while back. Loaded up some 325 gr and 350 gr .45-70s and had a blast. The rifle likes the 350s a bit better but no enough to make a difference with open sights.
What a fun gun. Even though it kicks pretty good with that steel butt plate.

...........What are you feeding it with the 350's ? I've been shooting 4198 in my 1895 Marlin with the 350 Hornady and getting good accuracy. Yeah, those big guns do tend to address your shoulder a bit.....particularly during load workup.....

PA - my 1895 takes 51 gr of H4198 with a 300 gr bullet. This one is stoked with 50 gr of H4198 and the 350 gr RN. I shot 3 bear with the 1895. But this year I want to try this one.
I'm even half tempted to load it up with 70 gr of FFg or Pyrodex RS and make some smoke.
