Run some steel wool in the chamber. Problem solved.

well, I own a benneli M2 and love it. I went to buy a pump and was comparing the 2. I am a remingtoan fan as well but my take was that the supernove seemed the better gun (a buddy of mine has both) but the forearm was really rattly. Not a problem most of the time but could be an issue turkey hunting. EJ

I have a standard Nova, as well as two 870's in 20 gage (my son's bird and deer guns), and an 870 12ga deer gun. I've never had any of them jam. I do like the Benelli, but being chambered in 3.5", it is quite a bit heavier to tote around all day. I really like the feel of the Nova for wing shooting however. I have Boyd's thumbhole stocks on the 870 deer guns, something not available for the Benelli.

What does all that rambling say? IMHO, pick them both up and go with what feels the best for you. I (personally) believe the reliability is going to be just as good either way. As someone previously alluded to, Remington hasn't sold 10 million 870s by making a poor product. And, out of 10 million, you'll find at least a few bad apples.
Also, I'll second what ejpaul1 said with the Nova forearm, the rattliness (is that a word?) is an annoyance.

Also, check out the Remington 887, I played with it at the SHOT show this past January. It is actually a closer comparison and similar feel to the SuperNova.

And if you just can't decide...buy both. You'll never regret that.

A Remington Express is not the same quality as a Remington Wingmaster and their reputation has suffered accordingly.....................The Norinco [Chinese copy] is even better made................Harold

Forget the Rem.Of the two the Benelli but I'll also vote for the Browning BPS as the best pump.

I own a 870 tactical express (Love it) and never had any problems with it and its very well built (no jamming ever) maybe i just got lucky.

Plus a pump is a hell of a lot more reliable than a semi shotty I would go with 870 for reliability.

But Benelli SN are nice guns and would love to have one to.

I think the Remington Express line are well built and nothing is wrong with the line go out and take a look what is being offered in that line.

You really have to go and look for yourself and make your own decision on what you want to get.

I've owned and hunted with both shotguns.
The SuperNova is by far better than the 870 express in all aspects.

The 870 is my favorite. Quality firearm, very reliable with a great assortment of additional barrel options.
