Game- WHITETAIL DEER Location- Treestand or Groundblind If your land met the above conditions, and you were only allowed to own one of the listed rifles, what would you pick, and why would you choose that from the others? Tikka T3 - .270win. Browning X Bolt - .25-06 Remington 700 - .30-06 Savage Arms - .308 Remington Model 7 - 7mm08 |
You are a mean person to make such a scenario.
Savage .308 They are good, solid, reliable. The caliber will do anything I ask and then some. |
hahahahah just very interested in what peoples posts are gunna be.
Don't even own one; but for "one" rifle to hunt deer from north to south, east to west it would have to be a .270.
I would use the pump.
Where is the lever action 30-30? You said deer, short shots and walking fire roads and if I am going to have to walk too long of a distance and still have short shots I want a lever gun. But, from what you have listed I would have to say the .270.
I pick the levergun
well since .30-30 wasn't on the list...
definitely .308 or 7mm-08, hmmm tough call, but one of these, let's say 7mm-08 at the moment! |
I'd probably either pick the Browning or the Savage of the ones listed. It would be a touch choice. However, I'd also consider a Browning BAR in 30-06 or .270 also. I prefer semi auto's to bolt actions.
I would go with the Model 7 in 7mm-08. I think it would just about perfect for what you describe, especially if it had a synthetic stock and SS barrel.
