I'd grab the Model 7 in 7mm-08 and not regret it. It'll do everything you need it to do in those conditions and be the most pleasant to carry around.

As much as I love the 270, the 7-08 is gaining some ground in my personal experience with it. And for what you want it for, I assume there is going to also be walking involved. IMO you would be hard pressed to find a better combo than the Model 7 in 7-08. The rifle is light, accurate enough, and the 7-08 with 140 or 154 gr bullets, depending on what it likes better, has plenty of power to dispatch any whitetail cleanly provided you do your part.

That Remington 700 in 30 06 is the way to go.

Model 7 - 7mm-08 from the list.

Model 700 Mountain Rifle, .280 if it were up to me.

From your list, I'd go with the Model 700 .30-06.

Sounds like the terrain I hunt in Michigan -- and I always seem to go with my Glenfield thirty-thirty. Too bad it's not on the list!

You wouldn't go wrong with any of the choices on your list.
I personally would go with the Tikka in .270 Win.

But I must agree with the sentiment for a lever gun.

If I could pick any gun in my safe for your scenario, it would be a tough choice. But I think the winner would be my Marlin 1895 in 45-70. I love to shoot that gun.

From the list I would pick the model 7 in 7mm-08.

From the gun rack at hunting camp I would pick my Marlin 336-35 Rem using LE ammo.

Since my primary deer rifle (and occ. bear gun) is a Ruger in .308, I would go for the .308assuming you mean the Savage in a bolt gun. The .308 is capable of any deer hunting (except the foolish bean field stuff at 8oo yards) on the continent, proven, and readily available. Savages bolt gun is well proven, reliable, and accurate, the .270 having no real advantage, in a alonger case. The .308 is available for heavier bullets than the 25.06, as may be neccesary for our big busting deep woods adirondack bucks and occ. bear. The 7mm 08 is an alright round, but the Savage will have the accuracy issue all over the remington.
