Difference Between 7mm-08 and 308

I was wondering what the difference is between these two calibers?

DeerandbearhoG 11-21-2009 03:14 PM

.284 X 140gr X 2800fps

.308 X 150gr X 2800fps

The 7-08 has a higher sectional density and ballistic coefficient (when comparing those std loads) meaning it drops less and should penetrate better.

308 = parent case to 7mm-08
7mm-08 is a 308 necked down to accept 7mm (.284) bullets.
Both are short action rounds, considered "inherently" accurate, and effective deer-stoppers.
