Marlin 1895 Guide Gun

I have one in 45-70 I got for Hog hunting. I was just wandering how you guys like this rifle..

Also, I was thinking about getting another Marlin lever gun any opinions on what I should get???

I have a guide gun in 450 marlin and it has been my go to gun for a few years. I used my 1895 45/70 before that but with the guide gun being so short it is just handier .. I would look into the 338 marlin that seems to duplicate the 356 win which is a nice caliber which I also have in a marlin and a winchester..

The guide gun is on my short list of wanted rifles here. Did you buy it local? May keep my eye out for one at the big gun show in november in tulsa. Depending on what you're after, the 300 or 338 marlin express may be something to think about.

As far as getting another Marlin lever action goes..... a .35 remington .. my opinion

338 Marlin express all the way

Marlin Levers

I have a 1895 45/70 that I enjoy.

But my pick of the litter is my 41 mag SS 1894.

:groupwave:
Excellent deer and hog gun.

I have a Marlin 30/30, .35 Remington, and .450 Marlin as well as a 39A .22. You can't really go wrong with any Marlins. I like the feel of them. I would like to get either the new Marlin .308 or .338.

I have one in 450 Marlin that is deadly accurate. Scoped, the gun will shoot cloverleafs with factory or handloaded ammo at 100 yards. They are a dream to handle, as with all Marlins. I haven't had the chance to take it out in the last couple of years as my new lease doesn't have hogs and shots on deer are long, but don't think I could make myself sell it. I say just pick one and next year buy another.

i also have one in 450,it is a fun rifle,i love the compactness of it easy carrying up and around the hills and dense brush in the Adirondacks of NY.

Shees, as far as handy and a go to gun you can't beat the old standby 30/30 for a getterdun gun.
