I need a youth 243, any recommendations?

H & R is o.k. Not a top shelf acquisition, but usually shoot very well. Rossi is another option, but I prefer the H&R's. A Ruger 1 A would be nifty but not cheap. If you really want to spend more cash, a Win 1885 Low Wall is a thing of beauty.

Mossberg makes the 100 ATR in a .243 with the "bantam" stock that you can remove/add a section for different size or growing shooters. Marlin makes the XS-7 in .243 also. Both guns have adjustable triggers, can be bought new for $300 or less and have gotten good real world reviews by owners.

I bought my son a rem 770 from wal-mart last year and it is a good shooter for the money. Plus when he is not using it i keep it in the truck for the occasional coyote.

weatherby vanguard or a howa. both pretty cheap. I just ordered a vangaurd for 399.00

You might look into a Rem.Model 7,The little ruger compact looks good ,and so does that little compact CZ.

My duaghters carry youth model H&R in 243 win and taken good bucks with it.

check out the marlin xl7 1inch group guarantee. retail for $320 or 330. comes with scope bases. i bought a rossi in august and was lucky to shoot an 8 inch group with it. i took it back to gander and they gave me my money back and i got the marlin ive shot it a few times and very happy with it. only thing i didnt like was there is no clip or drop plate but that is minor. has a fluted bolt. much smoother than the rem. 770 or the savage. and a pro-fire trigger(factory set at 3.5lbs i believe and is adjustable) similar to the savage accu-trigger. heres a link to one of the reviews i read about the marlin...

If your on a budget the H&R or the Stevens Bolt action can be bought for under 300.00

The Howa or Weatherby would be the next step up...

If you want something a little nicer the Model 7 or the Ruger Compact would be the way to go.. I have one of each of the above and they all shoot good, just a better fit and finish on the higher priced models..
