Want slug gun

Looking at 870 express 20ga. with fully rifled barrel for deer any suggestions on a better gun or is this a good choice? Think im sticking with a 20ga though...

recently been looking at 20ga slugs as well, came across the bolt action savage 20ga...

no cantilever scope mount, it's drilled and tapped.

I've always used 12ga, rem 1100, and benelli 12ga semi auto, just would like to find a really accurate slug gun.

I think going to a 20ga either in an 870 or savage bolt action would be the way togo aside from buying a "tar-hunt slug gun" I believe is what they're called, they're a bolt action too similar to the savage...

One buddy bought an 870 slug gun w/ scope at Bass Pro and I think he said he paid like $350. And my nephew picked up a Mossberg 500 slug gun with rifled barrel and scope, 2 cheek combs, sling mounts and the bird barrel with screw in chokes. It is on sale right now at D i c k s for like $280 (and maybe a $20 rebate too). Now you can't beat that.

If you are going to try D i c k s you best hurry they are famous for only having a few guns and running the sale to get you in the store to buy this and that after they tell you they don't have the sale gun but will give you a raincheck.

Nothing wrong with a the 870 it has been proven over and over, if you care to save a few dollars then go with the Mossberg 500, like another member said DICKS has them on sale with a main-in rebate, Mossberg is a good shotgun.

I love my 20ga. H&R Ultra Deleux it's a single shot, but she is tack driver

No matter which shotgun you get, you need to try various sabot slugs, shotguns are very iffy, and also top it off with a decent scope

I'm gonna have to go with bowhunter. I would definately look at the hr single shots. They're tough to beat. A good ml will do the trick to.

Here is the H&R Ultra Deluxe:

Your gun should serve you well, i use a 870 in a 12ga. and i get very good groups at 100 yards, with a hornaday sst's and rem. buckhammers but hammers KICK like a MULE.

Either the 870 or 500 would be fine. But consider this. How about a smooth bore with slugs designed for smooth bore? That way you have a shot gun as well. Or you could invest a few bucks on another barrel and tool, and get one of each.

I've been running a smooth bore for years. I haven't noticed any real difference in accuracy compared to a rifled barrel.

As much as I like my Mberg 835 I have to admit the H&R is about as good as it gets as far as slug gun accuracy goes.If I ever find myself restricted to shotgun only I'd grab one in 20g with the laminated stock and slap a good scope on.
