On the issue of shipping, I was gonna ship a gun and they told me I had to bring it to the central UPS office instead of dealing with any UPS store. Plus if I remember right, they charge a arm and leg for shipping where as a gun store can ship it alot cheaper and UPS will pick it up at the gun store. Any one else on this?

Well we stopped in to pick it up, the repair ticket said REPLACED EJECTOR, EJECTOR SPRING & TESTED - OK.

Then he guy says, "You owe me $19.00 for shipping."

My nephew told him no way. It should be covered by warranty. This is a brand new gun with a problem that has absolutely nothing to do with me. I'm already out money for slugs to get it zerod in and now I have to put more money in slugs to get it or atleast make sure it's zeroed again.

The guy was just an employee and seemed to understand where my nephew was coming from. He's going to call H&R today see what can be done. It was their F'up and they should absorb the cost.

I liken it to if you bought a new car and on the first drive it broke down. I'm sure they would send a tow and fix the problem even if they had to send it back to the manufacturer. And I know they wouldn't be such a pimp to try and charge the customer for hauling it to and back from the manufacturer - or the tow to the dealership.

Hopefully H&R will absorb the addidtional costs stemming from their mistake.

just to add, you can SEND the gun to h and r yourself, but for them to ship it directly back to you is a no-no. gotta be a transfer thru a licensed ffl. I know some companies or people might try this, but it can be a can of worms...

Except that the car dealer does get reimbursed from the manufacturer. The gun dealer does not.

Good luck but I doubt H&R will pay for shipping. Very very few manufacturers will pay shipping to them. They will typically pay the return shipping but not the shipping to get the gun to them.

Glad the gun is back and hopefully it shoots great for your nephew.

Completely wrong. It is absolutely legal for a person to ship a gun to the factory for repairs and the factory ship the gun directly back to the customer. It does not need to go through an FFL holder in either direction. Unfortunately there have been soooo many people that have spread misinformation about this subject that the average Joe doesn't know one way or the other.
