S&W 22-A

I've been pondering the purchase of a .22 handgun for plinking targets and cans, etc. I've had 2 Rugers in the past but although they were good pistols I didn't hang on to them for some reason.
I've been looking at the Beretta NEOS and the S&W 22-A. I think I decided ont hte S&W with a 7" barrel. Anyone have any experience with this pistol?

Bronco, I've got a brand new S&W 22A out in the safe that I have never fired![:@]I am headed to the mountains in a couple of weeks and I am bringing almost every single gun I own.

I will tell you that my 22A was a little less that $250 with tax and everything. I bought it on the recommendation of a good buddy that has couple of them. The fit and finish seems fine. Let us know what you get.

I was going back and forth on what to buy also .
I looked hard at the Beretta Neos and the S&W TO .
I ended up buying the Ruger Mark III with the 5.5 bull barrel yesterday .
I havent had a chance to shoot it yet do to the rain [:@].
A little more pricey but Highley recomended .

Thanks guys. I ordered the Smith on Friday. I'm going with the 7" barrel. I got a price of $265. Colorado, you got a pretty good deal there.
Tracker - I had Rugers and they were OK. Never any problems. Just wanted something different I guess.

I too have been wanting a 22lrrevolver for plinking cowboy action style though. I thought I'd just go with the ruger single six. I have ruger 22lr semi auto's for me they are deadly.

I never could get used to the magazine release location of the 22A. Since my Rugers happen to shoot as accurate as a rifle (IF I can do my part), and are VERY reliable, I'm going to stick with Ruger.

I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake and not go with the Ruger also. But I had 2 previously and just did not fit me will. I got the on S&W on Saturday and took it out today. I had gotten a full carton of new Rem. ammo but decided to grab some old stuff I had laying around. That may have bee my problem. After shooting about 70 - 80 rounds, I had several misfeeds, a couple of misfires and a couple of squibs. One I even had to clear the pistol to check to see if the bullet left the barrel. The ammo seemed very erratic. I'm off tomorrow so I might get out a again with the fresh ammo.

I would trade my Rugers for a S&W in 22cal revolver or semi-auto period! No comparison in my opinion!!:)JMO

You're trying to say you mean you wouldn't?
