Walking varminter

This appears be my new project... a med-weight coyote buster in 22-250. Currently, I'm looking at the Savage 10 Predator and a Kimber (Pro Varmint I think is what is was called). Any pros out there with other suggestions? Note: I'm not interested in a 10-12# prone shooter... I want to go mobile. All suggestions welcomed.

A friend of mine got a Weatherby Vanguard in 22-250. Shoots decent, and doesn't weigh a ton............

salukipv1, the Remmy is certainly a possibility. The problem is that I'm not much of a Rem fan. I've had some (one .243 now) that shot well but the others did not without some messing around. We'll see. Pawildman, I do kind of like the Vanguards. May have to investigate further. Gonna look at some CZ's today. Thank you for the suggestions.

There are a lot of great rifles out there.

I would recommend the CZ rifle. And for the following reasons.

1. Light Weight
2. Handles and "comes up" very smoothly---IMO
3. Set trigger is very nice, and the unset trigger is also adjustable
4. The CZ's in my experience have been very accurate rifles
5. A steel-removable magazine----I think this is a very good attribute for a mobile rifle. Makes ammo storage very easy, and fast loading.
6, Cost is similar to Savage--And I personally feel the CZ is a better rifle. I do wish it was American made.
7. Comes with rings, and bases are not needed.

I just bought a new CZ527 in 204 Ruger. And so far I am very pleased with the rifle. Tom.

I looked hard at both the Savage Predator Hunter and Remington Model 7 Predator last year. The Savage is a little bit heavier in hand. The Model 7 is the perfect size and weight for a walking predator rifle in my opinion. My buddy has one in .204 and I love the way it handles and works in the field. I finally decided to rebarrel my Savage model 12 with a sport weight barrel in .223AI and I am in the process of working up loads. The sport weight barrel is a little heavier and very similar to the Model 10 Predator, I am very pleased with the results.
