well the gun is a savage model 10 the law enforcement series its like 8lbs so the 300 should be bad on recoil righht?????

It shouldn't be too bad. It will add weight with your scope, rings, sling, bi-pod, and whatever else you add. If the recoil is alittle to much for you just add a Sims recoil pad. They work about as well as any recoil pad I have tried.

To me it would not be that bad. At least for me but you may be different if it hits you to hard try a limbsaver recoil padthey are the best to me.

Sims makes the Limbsaver recoil pad they also make Remingtons R3 pad. I use there stuff on my guns and bows. Folks around here calls them Sims unless there talking about the actual limbsaver that goes on bow limbs. They make alot of things that work pretty well.

While we all know that in EXPERT hands,the .308 is good for long distance,the .300 is better hands down.

The 308 is an accurate round but at extreme long range does run out of steam before the WM or WSM. This only means you may need more "come up" on the scope you are using or a 20moa base to have enough clicks on the scope.I have read that the WSM may be some what more accurate than 300WM due to the fact that the WM is a belted magnum and the belt may cause the case to not fit the chamber as tight as the 300 WSM does which could lead to some pressure variation.IMHO

That isn't a factor after fireforming brass,then you simply set die to necksize and headspace on shoulder.
