any thoughts on browning a bolt 270 wsm
i am looking at buying a browning a bolt 270 wsm from a buddy who shot it only 3 times. it has a black composite synthetic stock and stainless steel, matte finished, glas beddedbarrel with a BOSS.
he only wants $800.00 for it and this is a $1,100.00 gun i was just wondering what people thought of them

I would definently take a look at the X Bolt. I just bought a X Bolt in 7mm WSM Medallion and I love it. I looked at the A Bolt also but there were a few things I liked better on the X Bolt.
Here is why I picked the X Bolt-
-Detachable Magazine (Some people have complained about it being made of 'plastic', but it is actually very tough and light)
-Bolt Unlock Button (Basically, if you have a round chambered you don't have to take the safety off to open the bolt and remove the round)
-Looks very good!
-Great Trigger and it's adjustable, breaks very nicely, it actually scared me the first time I shot it because, it took a lot less than my Remington 700. It is set at about 3 1/2 from the factory.

800 seems kinda high to me, unless its coming with a scope, rings, bases? Its a mighty fine gun, and if you think its a good deal there is nothing wrong with the gun or the cartridge. I'd also stay away from the BOSS if it was me.

I agree with Rammer. I believe what you are looking at is the Browning Stainless Stalker. I was just pricing one at my local gun shop last night and the said it was around $800 new. I wouldn't give him more than $600 or $650.

If you DON'T reload, get the boss by all means-just be sure and get "CR module" for it. What the boss does is time the barrel vibration so that the bullet exits muzzle at same point every time. It's WELL worth it for someone that don't reload and takes the time to adjust it properly to obtain optimum results with it.
