TC Slug gun

I drew an Iowa tag this year and I decided to get a new toy. I have a muzzleloader but wanted to try a slug gun. I went with the TC encore with the stainless barrel. I shot about 6 boxes at the range yesterday and I was impressed. I am 2 inches high at 50 yrds and 3 inches high at 100 yrds.

Question I have is it possible for the bullet to be rising at 100 yds? Does not seem likely but thats what the paper was showing. I also took one shot at an 8 inch metal circle at 150yds before I left and I rang it! So much for the old pumpkinball shooters.

I was using the Hornady SST 12 guage 2and 3/4.

Sounds to me like the slugs are at their highest point at 100. I would expect them to begin dropping past 100, if they aren't already dropping. You could shoot at 75 and 125 if you wanted to confirm the trajectory. Those slugs are going about 2000 fps, so they should shoot flatter thanmany other sabotslugs.

Mine are 2" high at 50 and about dead on at 100.

I shoot the SST's in my 11/87 slug gun. After about 110 yards the drastically start to drop.

I shoot the sst's out of an 11-87 as well. I'm shooting 4 inches high at 50, about the same at 100, dead on at 150, and they drop about 7-8 inches at 200.

What kind of groups are you getting in the Encore.

This might help explain what you are experiencing.
