Last spring I bought a Savage 111FCXP3 chambered for the .30/06 Springfield. It came bore sighted from the manufacturer. My first sighting shot was within inches of the bull at 25 meters. Aside from sighting the rifle in I could of taken it right out of the box and went hunting (pretty much).

Last fall I took it caribou hunting. It was light enough for comfortable all day carry and cruddy weather didn' t seem to phase it. During the sight in and hunting I had no mechanical problems with the rifle and the cheap scope gave me no problems.

Savages are supposed to pretty accurate for the money but I' ll admit that I' m not a good enough shot to test this rifles limits (as of now).

Overall I am very satasfied with my Savage package rifle. But take my word with a grain of salt, my only previous hunting rifle was a Mosin Nagant 91/59.

I ended up getting the savage Model 111FCXP3 with 30/06 and the guy at the store boresighted it for me and when I sighted it in myself the first shot from 150 yds was 2in left of center. then I moved the target and fixed the sights and got 1/4 in right of center.(kill shot)
Thanks guys for telling me to get this gun

I' m waitin for them to put the AccuTrigger on there sport models, like the model 16FSS in the Weather Warrior. I' ll be waitin at the door of my favorite gun shop the day that comes about!:) You will have a great time with your 111. Break that barrel in right and after that, shoot 3 round strings and let barrel cool between strings and you should be very impressed.[:o]

I' ve recently had a look at my new .270WSM in a 16BSS. What a beauty! It' s now at the gunsmith getting a bead-blast job to reduce the shine on the stainless barrel. Maybe it didn' t need a duller barrel, but I like the dullest possible finish. The laminate stock looks great.

Who said Savage makes an ugly gun!?!
