First post here. I plan on buying a 7600 pump in .270 froma friend of mine come Nov. I belong to other forums and the reviews are generally positive however there is a small group of 7600 haters who just assume toss the gun in the dumpster. I plan on putting on a 3x9 Bushnell Legend scope and hunt in New England/Western New York area for whitetails.

I would like to get some opinions on the Rem 7600.

I have no complaints about mine, it's a 35 Whelen. Generally the 7600's are almost if not as accurate as a bolt rifle. I think where a lot of people's issues come from is from handloader's that do not full length size their brass causing jamming issues. I think you'll be happy with it. I personally feel that with the pump you have faster follow up shots due to the fact that there is less movement involved with chambering another round. Get the gun and enjoy it.

Fantastic rifle. I personally like the 30 caliber carbine models with the shorter barrel. 3-1/2 inches of barrel can make a big difference in tight quarters. And the velocity difference is minimal, especially when shooting at shorter woods distances. But any of the Remington pump rifles will work great. IMO any HUNTER that knocks one has probably never owned one.

I use the small base die for my reloads. I have heard several people say that regular dies can be used. I am sure they are right, but I have always used the SB dies. Tom.

I have a 760 (older one)in 308. It's put quite a few deer in the feezer. I get close to MOA at 100/200 yds with it. I did once kill a woodchuck at 450+ paces with it.

This is almost the exact gun that I hunt deer with, just change the brand of scope. It's an awesome rifle, I've never had a problem with it jamming or anything else. It's more accurate than I am, and I love having a clip to carry the shells in instead of loading and unloading shell by shell.

I had one in 30-06, pretty gun and shot ok, but it had the harshest recoil of any gun I have owned, even other 30-06's.

Great gun. My dad has2 760 carbines in 30-06 and 308, and a7600 in 30-06. The 30-06 carbine has an odd serial number and is put away. Im not going to put the exact number on here but it is 8x,000 exactly.

I have an 7600 in 35 whelen with a VXIII 1.5-5x20mm and I love it. I would not put any thing larger than a VXII 2-7x33mm on it if it were mine. I fact the VXII 2-7 is on my 270 bolt.

i hvae two 3006 7600 carbines and a 35 whelen carbine in the 7600 and they all woprk flawlessly and shoot like a dream.....accept the 35 whelen she has a little bit of bite since i had it cut off.

I've got a Rem 7600 in 7mm-08 and it has become my go-to deer rifle. Love it.
