Yes, I bought one in .300 Winchester Magnum about a year ago, has been a very nice and accurate rifle, a lot better than the 710. You won't regret buying it.

i was looking at that one and found the gun\scope combo for about $410. i also looked at the 116fxp and found it for about $510 until i found one a dick sporting goods on clerance for $439. i went ahead and got the 116fxp just two days ago. its bore sighted and im going to a rage to sight it in tomorrow and hopefully hunting on sat. one thing i notice right off is its light.

Oh yeah, they are light, my .300 Win Mag Package weighs 6.5 Lbs. But that beats carrying 12 lb "sniper" rifles out in the woods, which I have done before.

I must agree with you guys about the weight !! The wood on them isn't the greatest and the simmons scope could be a better, but for the price you can't beat it. I actually went and bought the 14 american classic by savage and put a Nikon scope on it and paid almost800.00 with the scope being installed. Paid alot, ALOT, but it has to be the best GUN i have. I also have a REM. pump 30-06.. and this gun blows it away.. Savage is a quality gun as a cheap price, unless you get like me and buy things you really don't need... but i'll have it forever so... i guess it's worth it !! my2cents

Well i sure hope in can outshot a pump that is not saying alot. You are comparing apples to oranges when you compare these two guns.

I had a friend who was always bragging about how accurate his BAR in 7mm mag was, it couldn't hold a candle to my Savage .300 Win Mag. Nor do i think it ever could.

Savage 111 is an excellent rifle; I've had two of them. For myself, I'd avoid magnum cartridges because of their excessive recoil, noise, and ammo costs. If you can't do it with a .270/30-06... you probably can't do it with anything bigger.

IMHO, of course.

They are very light rifles, and they only increase the recoil of the mags.

Ok, I have to start by talking about the 7mm mag.The 7mm mag is just the 270 on stariods. I have one in Remington 700 bdl the bestcaliber in the world. Being in Maine youth day was last weekend and I shot my first deer with the gun using remington corlocks 150gr.The deer did not go any were. He was standing at 100 yrds. With a 30-06! you are shooting the same grain, okay Mr. Catus Magnus.
Now, I have the savage model 11 in 243 love it. I bought it at dicks sporting goods in a scope combo for $410. I got this gun for shooting coyotes because the 7mm is a little big.I took it out to the rang for the first time lastmonth it shot subM.O.A. right out of the box i'm shooting Winchester 95gr. ballisicsilver tips. 95gr becauseI may want to use this rifle for deer hunting also.
