Default Savage Rifle questions.

[align=left]I am new to the whole shooting thing, and have decided that i wanted to get a Savage Model 111 Fxp3. However i have found two of them, one is about $367 before tax, and the other one is about $503 before tax. Both are 30-06 caliber, both come with a scope and a sling. The only difference that i can find is that the more expensive one has an Accutrigger. So, my question is, is the more expensive one worth buying b/c it has an Accutrigger? And if so, what sort of advantage does the Accutrigger have over the one without the accutrigger?
Thanks for the help.

For 140 bucks, I wouldn't worry about getting an accutrigger. Savages were accurate guns before they had it, and the cheaper gun will be accurate as well.

The Accu-trigger is nice but NOT $140 nice. BTW, can you find one without the scope? Those package deal scopes are usually junk.

Get a stevens without a scope. Will probably run you around 300 bucks. Then get a scope and mounts. Like said the scopes are usually cheapo crap models. And a stevens is just a Savage 110 without the accutrigger. So if your going to get a gun with no accutrigger just get the stevens, same gun pretty much.

I used to own a savage 110E years ago, and now own a newer savage with the accutrigger. I agree, it's not worth the 140 bucks just for that option. You could probably have a gunsmith do a trigger job for less money and it would feel better.

The mossberg ATR's are pretty nice for the money as well. And so are the Howa guns, but they are closer to the 400-500 mark.

Yup... Savage rifles are awesome! Mine is an older Savage 110 chambered in .308 and originally came with a POS unknown model Simmons scope. I quickly ditched the junky scope and bought a nice Bushnell 3-9x40 scope for it.

Buy the cheaper one and put a Sharpshootersupply.com trigger on it. You will be light years ahead.

I really like the accu trigger on my 114 classic but not sure it is $140 worth. Don't buy the package like already said. The scopes are junk. Check cabela's before you buy. I bought my 114 classic in 300wm for $499 about 2 months ago.

The Rifle Basix trigger is another option, I have them on both of my savages, pull weight set for 1 1/2 lb on my 223AI and 2 1/2 lb on the 243. I agree the Accutrigger is nice but not $140 worth of nice when you can get just as good a trigger for less than half that.
