RE: 30-06 vs. 270 WSM
Actually get the New Thomposn Center Icon in 30TC, It is the new 3006 and is a short round but has same ballistics as the 06, that said the 270wsm is enough for anyting in North America and the 140 gr accubond or the 150gr XTP is all you need for any thing you will ever hunt, the 130gr TSX is perfect for goat, hog, black bear and deer

RE: 30-06 vs. 270 WSM
Oh boy another one with the new 30-06. Tell me something there Dalebow. The 30TC just barely making 06 velocities with a 150 gr bullet how is it the new 06? Will it come anywhere near 06 velocities with 165 or 180 gr bullets? I think not, will it handle 200 or 220 gr bullets? definitely not. Not to mention the fact that currently the only company manufacturing ammo is Hornady and that is only a 150 and 165 gr load with specially blended powders that will not be released for sell as a component so there will not be any chance for handloaders to equal factory velocities. Now let's take it a step further, exactly how many companies are making rifles chambered in 30 tc. ONE, Thomspon Center. Maybe after it has been around say over a century it can earn the title of being the new 30-06.

I would pick the 30-06 or the old standard 270 Winchester Were I to go to a Magnum it would absolutely be the 300 Win Mag. The short Mags didn't do it for me and I tried them.

I like the WSM so to me go with the 270wsm all the way.
I am not saying the 30-06 is not a good old caliber it is.
to me if you are looking for none mag go with a 308win or a 30tc.
