Expert - somebody with a great deal of knowledge about, or skill, training, or experience in, a particular field or activity.

I sell wine for a living.

Am I an expert……?

Well, I probably know more about wine than 90% of the population.

I like reading his “opinions”.

BTW - I don't consider myself an expert.
I didn't know you sold wine for a living. Now I can come to you when I need to buy wine for my brother and his wife, since I know nothing about wine! My brother has a vineyard here in SD, thought you might like to check out his site.

As for the Chuckhawks debate. If I see something that says that, I do not click on it. I've seen more of his BS where he takes something, goes to the manufactueres website, then paraphrases it to his likings and posts it up. I've seen enough of his articles to know that he doesn't know as much as he thinks. So NO, I don't think he's credible.

Rammer,
It seems like a long time since I’ve seen any posts from you.
I’ve enjoyed reading your comments from the outset and I have always respected your opinions.
Both you and “jeepkid” amongst others have been very helpful to me with some of my recent purchasing decisions.
Thank you!!!

I’ve been an hotelier and a restaurateur my whole life (including an instructor at the Culinary Institute of America), so I developed this love affair for food and wine.
I am on the other side of the fence now and sell wine to hotels, restaurants and bottle shops.

I did take a look at your brother’s website.
Can you ask him why he did not plant grape varietals from Germany and Austria?

Rammer,
I watch Bill O’Reilly on Fox, I respect George Bush, I listen to what you have to say; does this mean I agree with everything[/b] all three of you have to say?
Chuck Hawks is a man who has assembled information where newbie’s like me can learn about guns and ammo.
Lastly, I will probable never reload a round in my entire life ( although I now know a little about parent cases, bullet velocity measured in ft/sec, bullet energy measured in ft lbs, trajectories/bullet drop).
When your brother one day starts talking about rootstocks, clone material, yeast strains, and cooperage as your eyes roll back in your head and you tell him I just really want to enjoy this glass of wine.
When I was young I trapped, hunted and fished and I am having a ball living in that world again.

Thanks for everything RAMMER, never change!!!

I didn't realize my brothers site wasn't fully operational. He must be updating it since his wedding with new pictures or something. I think he is stopping by here tonite, so I will ask him why he didn't plant any varieties from Germany or Austria. I'll be the first to admit I don't know a thing about what he is doing. I drilled all the holes for when he planted the grapes, and some other manual labor for him, other than that thats his deal completely. He did just get back from Paso Robles where he and his wife honeymooned touring vineyards and sampling wines. My brother already talks about rootstocks, clone material, etc etc. I let him drink his wine, I stick to the Crown Royal.

I'll try not to change, I'm too stubborn and set in my ways! haha ;)

My brother stopped by and he said he doesn't know anything about the German or Austria vines, and he didn't know if they would be hardy enough to survive here.

Rammer,
The Germain and Austrianvarietals are FAR superior to the varietals your brother is working with, if he plans to sell his grapes, must, juiceor finishedwines.
German and Austrian varietals are very hardy vines.

He is lucky to have a brother like you.........cheep labor anyway (just Crown Royal on the rocks). LOL

RE: chuckhawks opinions credible or not?

I'll mention this to him, and maybe he'll do some experimenting with them.....Actually, I am sure he will. He has right at 1 acre of grapes now, and I know his wife wants to grow more. He sells his grapes now to a vineyard here in South Dakota. He is making his own wine at home now doing some experimenting, I don't think he has any plans to go production on his wine anytime soon.

I have to splash some 7up with my Crown, I'm getting old ya know.....;)
