looking for opinion on customizing and/or accurizing my browning abolt 300 wsm

last year i bought a browning a bolt 300 wsm limited adition( camo dura coat stock) stainless. i wanted it with a boss, but the ltd didnt come with one. i already shoot real accurate, wanted to no if i put a muzzle break ( even though its a short mag) will i still have my accuracy. i also shoot the new xp3 150 grain load from winchester(i personaly think its the best round ever to come out). i have a leupold 3.5x10x50 vx3 scope, i am just wanting to get as accurate as possible.

you lucked out without getting the boss, I've got one and wish I didn't!

If you did anything probably get a mag-na-port

what kind of groups are you shooting at 100yds?

have you tried 180gr bullets? while its not a 300 win mag, mine 300WM loves 180gr.....

mag na porting could help....

so could a recoil pad if the kick bothers you....

what kind of mounts do you have? are they lapped?

has it been broken in?

i already shoot real accurate

If you are shooting real accurate I would leave it alone.

I hate muzzlebreaks, I really do. And surely a 300WSM does not need one. I promise you.

But with all that said, I don't like the glass bedding that browning does. Its usually just a big glob of epoxy. I like to rebed them.

You can start by hand lapping the bolt locking lugs, hand lapping bore, bolt cocking notch, pillar bed, remove pin that locks bolt while on safe, rod that locks striker,by ALL MEANS do a good trigger job on it. Think that will do you for starters? I take things a step or 2 farther by blueprinting action while I'm waiting on new barrel to come back from being cyrogenically frozen, and work up a good load for it.

Stalkingbear.....I've often thought about sending a barrel to be frozen but never have done it.... I think I have a website from 300 Below or something like that. Do you feel it makes a serious difference?

I have noticed it makes a difference more so on some barrels than others. The main thing I've noticed is that a cyroed barrel won't "walk" when heated up,unlike factory barrels. I've found them to be more stable after cyroing.

I have to concur with Bigbulls. Both my A bolts have been rebedded and one had a trigger job. Both are excellent shooters. One is a 7-08 the other is a 325 WSM.
