Default MSAR stg556 AUG clone review

picked up this new offering from microtech a few weeks ago.

the first thing that attracted me to it was purely the "cool" factor. this gun looks neat!

fit and finish was good. came apart for disassembly and went back together nicely.

down to the range with some inexpensive fiocci ammo, loaded the factory 10 round mag and here we go. i shot 10 quickly just to check for functionality.. perfect, ate it all without a glitch.

offhand at 25 yds, slow fire, put the next 10 into a 3 inch circle with the factory tuned optic. same results at 50 yards offhand with the next 10.

got down on the rest and shot a 1.75 3 shot group at 50 yard... pretty impressed thus far.

that was a far as i got because my 12 and 13 year old were there and took my new gun away from me....they were having a great time popping (stationary) clay pigeons and cans at ranges between 25 and 75 yards. the rifle comes up clean and hits where you point it.

i think once i get some alone time to sight it in the results should be good.

all in all, fun little gun. A bit pricey, but it is a good alternative to the original AUG's, which are now out of my price range. the one major complaint i have is that my original AUG mags will NOT work in the gun. I really hate proprietary machining !!

anyone else here have any experience with this rifle?

thanks,
moose

Hi moose,

re: MSAR STG556

I am a lefty,
does your standard model adapt for left handed shooting.
Or are there options to buy?

Thanks
Ron
