Default 243 WSSM ???

Hey Ya'll,
Has anyone shot a rifle in the 243 WSSM yet. The balistics look awesome and it would be great to get an upper for my black rifle in this round to do some deer hunting with. 100gr for deer and 50 for varments.

The cartridge is already dead! isn't it the same as the .243 win just shorter? the only one that did anything IMO was the .25wssm which gave you a .25-06 in a shorter action, the .223 and .243 are already plenty short, so a .223wssm and .243wssm really didnt to much for us. all 3 rounds are dead.....

Well thats good to know. I was going to buy an upper for my AR in that Round because it will run on a mil spec ar 15. The balistics are so great I'm surprised it hasn't taken off.

The only upside about the round is that it will work on a AR-15. You don't have to have an AR-10 to have a .243 rifle.

Still considering it as there is ammo available at a reasonable price. 1000 rounds should last a long time. If I run out, I'll take up reloading in my spare time when I retire. I own a 243 in a Browning lever gun and a 300 win mag in a BAR. I just want to expand the use of the AR a little. Two uppers in different cals. is like having two rifles. I love shooting this thing. I'll still use the 223 for plinking and 3 gun compition but I just want to expand the use a little. I killed a good size hog last year with the BLR at about 85 yrs and couldn't believe the hole it put in it with a 92gr balistic tip in the 243. About the size of a half dollar exit! I also have a good friend who lives in north Texas whos wall is full of 150 classor better whitetails all taken with a 243 so size is more than enough. I just like the ballistics of it.

I think its right about a 6mm Rem ballisticaly. I think in an AR platform it would be great. Buy a few hundred rounds of ammo and go for it.

I'm going to pull the trigger on it as soon as The guy contacts me when they are in stock. Already got 200 rds bought for $19 a box of 20. That's alot cheeper than the 300 mag ammo. I'll just stock up when I see it at the right price. Thanks for the push. It was all I needed.Archery is sooooo much easier for me to make up my mind on stuff.

I would go for it but i would buy as much ammo for it now as i can and plan on reloading soon. I did that with ym 204 when they first came out and now its a popular round so i had alot of shooting to do. Im almost out of ammo now.

Go for it...if thats what ya want. Im sure Winchester will be making brass for a long time for it. Hell they still sell ammo for guns that havent been chambered in 30 years so I wouldnt sweat it.

I just bought some more ammo for it for $25.00 a box and it's the premium stuff. I also found a web site where I can get premium Speer loads for about $17.00 a box. Hell thats cheap enough for me. I'll accumulate the brass for reloading as I shoot and if I have to I'll just load some more. I'm going to use it mainley for varment, hogs and the occational deer so I won't be burning up 400 rds at a pop. I'll get around 1000 rds of various loads and see which one I like.
Thanks for the input guys. I'll Post some pics on this thread whei I get it.
