Good luck with your purchase. Just remember to get the platform you want for future expansion. I got the 223 because of the cheap ammo for plinking and varminting, but I am expanding to the 243 WSSM for bigger game.:D I could also go with the 6.8 spc or the 7.62 x 39 if I want with this 223 lower. If you want to go bigger you have to go with an AR10 Lower platform for some of the bigger [Longer] ammo.

you're comparing 243 ammo to 300 mag ammo? ie 300 win mag? I think those are 2 different categories, and 17-20/box doesnt sound all that cheap for .243 ammo, i know prices have been going up, oh well still is cheap compared to 50-70/box ammo. but ya if you want it/like it, get it. buying a dead or unpopularround would definitely way in on my decision making...I'd buy a 6mm rem I think before a .243 wssm, but I'm going with a .243 win over both.

I think you got it figured out. Buy quantities of the ammo now, while its still in steady production, and before the prices double on it.

The bolt action market for the WSSMs is a done deal. The only thing keeping them alive is the AR platform.

I have a 25WSSM, and I like it. It ain't nothing special though. Be a darn good beginners deer rifle, as there is no recoil.

I dont see the advantage over the .243win, But the .223wssm is a hell of a round.It is a flat screamer.

There is no advantage over the 243 except you can't use the 243 on an AR 15 platform. The round is too long. That's the main reason for the 243 WSSM. It is short enough for the AR and you can get bullet weights for larger game.

If the WSSM's fit in the 223 upper I wouldnt expect them to ever disappear completely because that is a HUGE market.....and should be enough to keep them breathing by itself.

I have planned on going with the 223 just so I could shoot more...cant wait. The ammo has went up some but it still isnt bad.

Thats the AR10 platform. Bigger receiver than a standard AR15.

Right but it is still black.I am not knocking the round ,I just dont think it is any better then the .243win. 200fps faster but at higher pressure!
