shotguns or bows
 
i use bows most of the time for turkeysand i am ready to switch to something . i have a knight tk 2000 muzzeloading shotgun and a remington 870 super mag max gobbler i wanted to know which 1 i should use and which shot do i need or should i reload my own shells....
and always take a kid hunting and fishing

The muzzleloader would be fun to try, altough your range will be limited. But if you are use to bowhunting, then that is not an issue. I use 3 1/2" 4 shot win's in my mossberg 835. Try your 870 out with some 4, 5, and 6 and see how it shoots. I like win's, buddy likes fed, also been wanting to try some kent.

I thought in your other thread you wrote that you use a 28 gauge for turkeys? Which is a bit uncommon, but with a tight choke and inside of its limitations range wise will do the job.

If you like to see the smoke, your Knight will give you that effect. There have been a few smoke poles loaded with ungodly shot charges (some as high as 3oz) that have killed turkeys at some pretty haneous ranges. Your 870 is capable of the same if you find a choke/load combonation that it likes. Gotta do some patterning.

I presonally prefer #6 shot. Always have. Opinions vary. The only right answer is the one that shoots the best out of your gun.

Im using a shotgun for my first bird and my bow for the second.
