Default I need help picking out a shotgun

Hey guys,

I need your help on picking out a shotgun. I am 5 feet 7 inches tall, weigh 165 pounds, and I am 11 years old. I really want a pump shotgun but will take a semi-auto. My price range is from about $150 to about $300. The shotguns I am looking at right now are a used Remington Wingmaster or Express Super Magnum and a New Mossberg 835 Crown Grade. Do they kick a lot? I would prefer a 12 gauge but would take a 20. I would be hunting deer, turkey, dove, squirrel, crow, and maybe duck. Would gun shows or pawn shops be a good place to find them? What would a used one in good condition cost? Is there any manufacturing/look problems with the guns? Are they accurate? I only have about $60 right now, but I am going to try to do some outdoor work to earn money. I might have the money by June or September. Do They they hold up well, especially in cold, hot, and wet weather? Sorry for asking all these questions. Any information and any thing else that I need to know would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have seen several wingmasters in the 3" magnum that they were asking between two and three hundred for at a gunshow last week so you shouldn't have any problem finding one . Just don't get in a hurry and buy the first thing you see ,look around and try to find what the average going prices is where you live ,check the internet . I see a lot of people that buy and never shop around and end up paying more than the gun is worth .

In your price range it will be difficult to find an auto, recommend limiting your search to pumps. Most pumps are reliable but, they do kick. I would install a good recoil pad such as a Pachmeyer Decelerator $30 from Cabela's. Check the local paper if legal in your state.

there is no subsitute for quality

i myself and am 13 and smaller than you(5 foot 4 135 lbs.) and easily take the recoil of 3" turkey loads out of a remington 12 gauge pump. holds up well in wet and cold( try turkey hunting in the rain and iowa deer in dec, very cold). love my gun. shooting slugs from the bench is fairly painful though.i prefer remington 870's. i would go with express mag used for a basic gun. maybe a supermag.synthetic stock too.

Get an 870 Express. People are always walking around gun shows with one to sell.
$200 or under should get a nice one.

Try the Winchester 1300 youth model.
It is great for fast follow up shots!

I WOULD GO WITH THE 870, MY SON IS 14 AND SMALLER THAN YOU HE CAN SHOOT 3.5 MAGS WITH NO TROUBLE. YOU MIGTH WANT A GOOD RECOIL PAD AND OR A SHOCK SERPRESSURE. I THINK YOUR TO BIG FOR A YOUTH MODEL.
GOOD LUCK
