RE: My Gun Stock I Am Making In School
The funny thing is that the origional stock was made on a lathe that had a tracer head on it and was probably manufactured in less than 10 minutes of work.
It looks like as if you spent a hundred hours making that one.
It looks very nice, but is not very practical. You will find that when you go out to use it for hunting purposes that it will be very uncomfortable to shoot due to the sharp edges that you put on the top and the bottom of the stock.
You would be better off now to cut them off and smooth out the rough edges and make it into something more practical than to worry about the looks.
Keep up the good work and let us know how it turned out and what grade the instructor gave you on that project and what comments he or she will have for you when you turn it in.

Looks great for a first try, even tho I like classic style with shadowline cheekpiece better. I'm remembering the very first stock I ever tried to make, many years ago.

I have to agree with the comment about hte sharp edges. The pistol grip also looks like its a mile away from the trigger. Other than that its a beautiful piece.
