RE: Remington 700 CDL vs BDL
I owned a 700 CDL for a year or so, bought it on a whim, first year offering of the 35 Whelen. I never fired it but fit finish and overall design and how it fit me were top shelf.
My go-to rifle is a hand built 700 I put together a few years ago chambered in 35 Whelen AI... it's a thumper of a round. To do it over I might... and this is a small might... opt for 338-06 AI... But really I have zero gripes about the Whelen AI... The regular Whelen isn't giving up much when put up against the AI version. Actually I've been shopping for a good 700 CDL take - off stock for this rifle... |
RE: Remington 700 CDL vs BDL
haha, yea I've been looking around for a CDL stock too.....I have a 7mm-08 BDL that I bought esentially brand new for 350 about a year before the CDL's came out. Mine has a 22 inch barrell as opposed to the 24 on the CDLs though, so I'd really like to just get a CDL stock for it

RE: Remington 700 CDL vs BDL
I have the CDL in .270. I had the trigger cleaned up and it shoots quite nicely with 130gr Honrnady Interbonds. The barrel does not like to be hot though.

RE: Remington 700 CDL vs BDL
Sportsmans Guide just had 700 CDL replacement stocks in their "Shooter's" catalog for $99.97. Comes in SA or LA. I ordered one and got it the other day. Very nice. Just the same as my 700 CDL stock. Limbsaver pad and all. You can call @ 1-800-888-3006, or www.sportsmansguide.com. They were in catalog # 64328, pg. 6. You may be better off to give them a call.........

........Forgot to mention it's the 2007 Fall Shooting Supplies catalog............

RE: Remington 700 CDL vs BDL
Only problem with the CDL from my perspective is it looks too darn good to take into the field. And it don't seem to lend itself to a free floated barrel as well as I might like.
That being said, My CDL SF in 17 FB has no problems at the bench, printing1/2 minute of angle 5 shot groups, even with the forearm pressure:) |
RE: Remington 700 CDL vs BDL
I agree with Hunter App....I have yet to relieve the forend pressure point on my 7-08 CDL...just one of the best shooting out-of-the-box rifles I've ever owned.........

RE: Remington 700 CDL vs BDL
IMHO, you cant go wrong with a remington rifle. I'm personally leaning towards the more weather esistant models, like the XCR, and such. I am stationed in Utah, and also hunt my home state of Pennsylvania, so i like the stanless and sythetics. The weather changes too soon. ButI would love to have a CDL. BEAUTIFUL rifles. As for the .270...I personally dont like that round, just my personal opinion. I like the .30 calibers, but you seem to have that all covered.
How bout a 7mm rem mag, 300 win. Both are historically accurate, and heavy hitters, just my 2 cents |
