T/C Icon

Went to my nearest sporting goods store last week and saw my first T/C Icon in person. Looked and felt like a good gun. Neat to see them come out with something compared to other manufacturers. Just wondering what anyone thinks of the gun if you've either shot, held or have looked at one.

Havn't shot 1 but it has some interesting features. I just didn't like the way the bolt handle comes out easy.

I had been wanting a new bolt gun and waiting to get my hands on an Icon, but I bought a Sauer 202 instead.

I own a Blaser R-93 and now a Sauer, and from what I have seen, American gun makers just haven't kept up/caught up with the Germans in quality, fit and finish.

I didn't really think the bolt was as smooth as my Rem. 700, but I'm sure it's good.

I haven't seen any yet but I've been reading alot about them. I like the idea of the alum bedding block epoxyed into the stock and the mating flat bottomed receiver with 3 screws fastening it down in stead of the usual 2. The integral weaver style base is also a good idea.
I believe that the latest Petersen's Hunting Mag has an article in it. T/C guarantees sub-MOA accuracy but there test gun shot a bit bigger. I'd probably have one if I wasn't a lefty.
The 30 T/C cartridge that came out with it looks like a good one. It sounds like another .308 type cartridge but aparently Hornady developed a high efficiency propellant that pushes out a 150 gr bullet somewhere in the neighborhood of 2900 fps. This is 30-06 velocity out of a short action rifle. This powder I don't guess will be avaliable to the handloader for a while - whatever it is so I don't see the handloader being able to duplicate factory loads.

If you don't mind me asking, what's the price tag on that sweet looking rifle? $500. $600.
