What do you think of them, especially the ones with the steel reciever and flat clip. I just bought a .308 off the net that a guy had matt blued and refinished the stock. I haven't got it yet but hope I didn't get a pig in a poke, it was very cheap compared to many others I saw.

I like the BLR's I have owned. Shot real good and handled just fine for me.

Don't expect a #2 trigger.
The BLR is a great gun. I have one in 223 that is suprisingly accurate.

My step father has two; one in 243 and one in 308. I used the 308 one time when I had problems with the rifle that I brought home, and took nice 8 pt with it. Very smooth action, good trigger for a lever action, light, and very handy.

Could anyone tell me what year this one was made ? The originag box is much different than the ones toway and in the instruction book it says it replaces the older blr. I has a white line spacer recoil pad and the serial # is 13247px227. From the looks of the box it might have been distributed in Monteral Canada.

However, let me break this down for you. The serial number of your gun:

13247px227

The 13247 are the actual serial number of the gun.
The PX would be the year of manufacture, which would be 1983.
The 227 would be a Model 81 BLR short action rifle.
