Old Lake City 30-06

Anyone have any experience with this. I would mainly buy up a bunch to have "just in case". Something cheap to store away for a rainy day. It's older than hell, the one review on that site says that it works great, just wanted some opinions on what you guys think it's gonna be like.

The ad does not say if it is white box or brown box. I doubt if it is white box. If it is brown box-then in my opinion the price is a little high. The picture is vague, but it could have been belted ammo. If you need it buy it, but I think you might do better??? However I do agree that ammo prices are going up, so they are gouging a bit. Tom.

yea thats a bit of a stiff price you should beable to get a 100 rounds for closer to 30 bucks. check out www.jgsales.com they have it for $6.95 per box of 20 but the better buy is by the case 500 rounds for $159.95 which works out to $6.40 per 20 rounds

Very expensive for surplus ammo.

Civillian Marksmanship Program has Greek surplus M2 ball ammo for around $0.12/round.

Do you have any experience with that ammo?

the bad thing about M2 ball these days its not really surplus. I know its surplus from the military aspect. but theres a deffinate market for it and a rather high demand.

I will be the first to admit I don't own a 30-06 right now and am not a military weapon buff, however there is a guy here that shoots this ammo in the white box and it seems to very good stuff. Quite accurate, very good looking ammo.

I had a fellow cleaning out his garage Gave me abunch of Lake city 42 and TW54, Icant remeber what TW is ,I shot up all 200 LC had 3 that didn't go at first I was frustrated by it I'd have 2or3 real close then 2or 3 high left but close then 2or 3 backat point a then a point c showed up . Turns out it was mixed lots and differant case capacities . Was shooting 3 separate 3 inch groups about 6 inches apart . I didn't figure it out til I went out to just "empty the brass" .The TW 54 was all one lot and stayed in its can like it's supposed to shot all in one group about 4" for 20in my savage in the 03' was like 2.5 for 10 . 62 and 74 is nice new ammo for government release . There is tons , actual tons , in storage of pre-Korean 06' and .45 that hasn't been released to CMP and the match for camp perry is 60's vintage. I shipped it .
