Default Mossberg 100 atr

The other day i went to the gun store and found a mossber 100 atr in the camo stock with a tasco true mil dot scope on it. the gun is in perfect condition has no scratches at all. I no this post might bring some controversey but the gun shoots suprisingly well. After bore sighting the scope in with 180grn cor lokt at 50 yds i was holdin a decent .789 groups, then at 100yds a little over a 1inch. The scope is taking a bit to get used to cause i prefer thick recticles on mine.the action is very smooth for a $300 gun and has a good safety to. I still need to get it zeroed in a little better at about 150yds but ive been extremely busy lately. I think this 30-06 will be a good deer gun for me this up coming season. the biggest thing i like about the gun is how comfortable the stock is in my hands. But i just wanted to know if any one else has had any good expierence with the 100atr.
thanks hartshot

I can't remember hearing anything bad about these rifle to be honest. These and the Stevens bolt action seem to be the best things going for the money right now.

If I could have found a mossberg in 243 I might have considered buying one but all I see in those things is 30-06 and 270. They seem fine to me. Especially for the money. EJ

These guns seem to be getting very popular.. a BUDDY OF MINE just got one and said it's great.. shoots great, looks great etc. Mossberg has been around and can't really see them going anywhere in the near future.. there shotguns are good, so why would the bolt action !!

Good luck with it.

Happy Hunting

I got one in early spring for a bear hunt, worked well for a good blackie. droped him in his tracks at 83 yards.
The thing I like best is , it's feel and it doesn't beat ya up with recoil in the 06.

I've inspected one at Wal Mart and it felt good but it had a trigger lock on it [&:]. It seemed to have a palm swell ala' Browning. Don't quite remember. I would like to have one. How does it shoot?

I bought a Mossberg ATR-100 in .270 when they first came out. It shoots 1-1.5" 5-shot groups with Fusion ammo (130 grain) and around an inch consistantly with handloads. I put a Leupold Vari-X III on it and a nice sling.

The deer I've shot with it were just as dead as they would have been if I'd have shot them with a high-dollar wood-stocked rifle, and I didn't worry about dragging it up the tree behind me when using my climbing stand.

The trigger is also pretty nice for and out-of-the-box inexpensive rifle, and the stock is more substantial than the Savage/Stevens 200's stock (my opinion) The action of the bolt is also pretty smooth, and I have had no binding issues.

After bore sighting, it shot a good group off bench. I couldn't believe the group. I've run about 100 rounds in it and it does the same. Can't kick for a 300.00 dollar gun. If I had to do it over, it would be the same.

I love my Savage 110, but if they made a left-handedMossberg ATR, I'd buy one.
