Ackley improving

I'm bying a 700 vls in 7mm-08,have to have the barrel flued for weight requirements, thought I might as well ackley improve it as well.

Would like to hear from anyone using 7mm-08AI.

What do you think,is it a waste of money or not for the 7mm-08?

The rifle will be used mainly for silhouette so accuracy is important, any comments/oppinions from anyone please.

Thank you

RE: Ackley improving

When I was shooting highpower silhouette, alot of my friends shot 7/08's and I dont remember anyone ever losing a ram with the 168 gr sierra bullet at a piddling 2300fps. I remember several of them shot that same load, it was 38 gr of IMR 4350. It seems to me that all you would get for your rechamber job is a little more recoil. The improved chamber might be a fun project, but strictly for a silhouette gun I dont think it would offer any advantage. For hunting, you might see a substantial velocity increase though. I had a 257Ackely that would literally walk on any 2506 I ever saw as far as maximum attainable velocities. Have fun and good luck.
