loose stock--anyone else have this problem?

I havean earlier modelRemington 1100 shotgun. It has had a loose stock since I got it andI can't figure out why. I took the recoil pad offand tried screwing the bolt tighter just like the gun guy said to but it won't tighten. The stock doesn't feel like it will fall off(obviously), it just jiggles a little. I noticed that almost every(used)Rem 1100 at the gun shop hada rather loose stock. Have any of you had this problem? How do you fix it, short of taking it to a gunsmith?

appreciate it;)

I also have an 1100 and it as well has a loose stock. Both the butt and foreend are loose. I have tried everything to get them tighter with no luck.

My forearm is just fine, it's just the butt. I wonder if some of those guns were defective somehow....

Is there room to try using a washer to take up what little slack there is in the bolt? I don't own an 1100, but seems to me like it might be worth a try.

I had one that came loose but I just tightened it up and it was fine . The washer sound like it might be a good idea .

I would also try fitting a washer on the stock bolt.

I could but I don't feel like taking it all apart. Well, thanks for the help. I'll try and work on it.

Well, now. Perhaps I missed something here. You asked for help with a problem, and got several good reasonable suggestions to try. Then you say you could, but don't feel like doing it. Huh????

Taking the stock off the 1100 is not taking it all apart. One long bolt that holds the stock on.. Here's a trick... Get an old tire iron and you'll see that it would fit that bolt face nearly perfect. Try this and see if it will go any tighter, if not just back that bolt out and take up some of the slack. Easy to do.

Yeah you're right  I'll try and work on it when I get time and keep you posted. I don't know what I wanted to hear as a quick fix it but I guess that's the best thing to do.
