hey folks

i just want some of you hunter that hunt with the bar to holler and tell us you likes and dislikes. i just purchase a bar in 30-06 and put a 3x9x40 browning scope on it and i like the feel and the way it shoots itis smooth.and very accurate i got it to group 1- 1/2to 2 in at 100 yds with 180 gr cheap ammo i am going to tune it up with some winchester btsp in 168gr before hunting season and see if i can't podge a buck with it. i have used a bolt model 70 winch. 270 for the last 5 years it worked good for me before that a model 94 in 30-30. i have always wanted a browning bar. by the way i got the safari

Lower cost ammunition is not neccesarily less accurate in any given gun.I have seen rifles shoot very accurately with cheap core lokts and not nearly as good with much more expensive federal premiums.As far as "very accurate" is concerned,your standards are much different than my own,and those of many experienced shooters..

thanks for reply stubblejumper your probley right on the cheap ammo it kill just as good as the high price stuff. 1 to 2 ingroupsat 100 yds with a auto or any gun isvery good in my book. like you said forprofessional paper puntchers it would be sub par. i just shoot deer and have a very good kill rate

Depending on your hunting conditions,1-1/2" to 2" groups at 100 yards might be quite satisfactory,however that 2" group at 100 yards will become a 6" group at 300 yards and an 8" group at 400 yards.In other words,at those distances the rifle is barely capable of keeping all shots in the kill zone without allowing for any shooter error or windage error.On the other hand a 1" group at 100 yards becomes a 4" group at 400 yards which does allow for some shooting error or windage error while still keeping all shots in the kill zone.A 1/2" group at 100 yards becomes a 2" group at 400 yards which allows for even more error while still keeping all bullets in the kill zone.Accuracy has advantages for hunters,not just paper punchers.

My own Boss equipped BAR in 7mmrem mag would shoot sub MOA with handloads.I sold it because it jammed twice in cold wet conditions.I also found the BOSS extremely loud,and the short barrel on the BOSS equipped rifles limited the 7mmremmag to close to 280 velocities.

I have owned several over the years and have yet to see a bad 1! They are so much better than remington semis,thete's no comparsion. And YES to remington fans,I have worked on em numbering in dozens over the years.

I would recommend shooting Federal Power-Shok, they are very cheap at Wally World (Wal-Mart), and expensive everywhere else, but they shoot great out of my 673 in .308.

Bought one last March, BAR in 270 Win with Boss. Very happy with it and took my first buck with it at 150 yards. All my shots will be 250 yardsor less. Also like the fact of a quick follow-up shot if needed. JMO.
