Bolt Action Slug Gun
I want to buy a Bolt action rifled 12 gauge slug gun to be used strictly for deer hunting. What brand is the most accurate? I am thinking about the 695 Mossberg.
Any opinions or comments are greatly appreciated. |
RE: Bolt Action Slug Gun
You might want to look at the NEF Ultraslug gun with a heavy barrel.
They are single shot, but very accurate and affordable. |

Go with the mossberg. They are the best company I have seen that deals with slug guns.

RE: Bolt Action Slug Gun
Go with the mossberg 695. Mine will keep 3 lightfield 1 1/4 oz EXP sabots witin 2 3/4 inches at 100yds.

Al V where in NJ are you from? I am from little egg harbor down the shore. I am looking at the mossberg and the H&R ultra slug hunter myself for next season. Just haven't made up my mine.

RE: Bolt Action Slug Gun
my uncle has a Browning A-Bolt 12 ga. dropped two dandy bucks within 10 seconds this fall.accurate as hell.
BTW,Israeli special forces use the mossberg 695 :-) slayer |
RE: Bolt Action Slug Gun
I shot A Marlin 512 slugmaster for many years.Gun shot very well(Brenneke gold 3"and 2 3/4 lightfields,Wincheter partion gold where terible flew everywhere)Action was a little ruff and trigger was rotten.I finally found a Browning A bolt.Best made shoots extremly well(3" lightfield commanders)Trigger and action are same as browning A bolt rifle.Marlin ,Savage, and Browning no longer are manufacturing bolt action slug guns, but If you can find a used Browning that would be the way to go,unless you have big $$$ and can purchase a custom made Tar hunt.
