I just sighted in the slug barrel and I am impressed to say the least. It shot excellent, taking 5 shots to sight it in. The last 5 circled real nicely right around the bullseye. Two went right in the center. It kicks very little compared to other slug guns I have shot.

This gun is built so well. I have a feeling I'll have this gun for many years to come.

I did find some sights for it, in case you were wondering.

Well, I'm off to clean it.
I have a 86' model 1100 23/4" and love that gun. I have shot more deer and ducks with that gun then all my others combined.

My setup for deer is a hastings scopemount slug barrel with a leupold 2.5-8 32mm scope, Hastings 23/4" mag slugs that shoot under 2" at 100 yards. November 2005 I shot 3 deer with 3 shots at 70-90 yards.

Cleaning was always easy I would remove the forearm, o-ring, rings, and then just wipe with a lightly oiled cloth and replace everything. At the end of the season I would strip the entire gun and clean everything. Jams were very rare.

I am using it this weekend at a Colorado Youth Outdoors cays shoot this weekend.

Man I love that Gun!

1100's only shoot 2 3/4 shells. Are you willing to deal with that?
the1100's are 3" chambers.

The competion style guns are 2-3/4" the field grade are the 3"
The only 3" chamber is the New 1100 G3, all the rest are 2-3/4"!

Those are Early Models (60's), show me where you can get aLate Model 1100 except for the 1100G3 in 3"?
I think there may be a confusion between the Remington 1100 and the Remingont 1187. I have the 1187 and it does chamber 3" shells. The 1100 and the 1187 do look a lot a like...

Yep, never said the 1100 was the same as the 1187. For one, there is about a 2 lb difference. Plus you can get an 1187 in 3-1/2" chambers. The 1187 was designed with a stronger frame keep up with the updated heavier loads. They are, pratically the same gun, but the 1187 is 35% stronger and more adjusted to shoot multiple loads. The 3" ones will shoot the very light target loads on up to the stoutest magnums.

Bottom line, they are both great shooters.

I can shoot 3 inch groups all day long with it now---with open sights at about 50 yards off the rest. I'm liking it but I can't believe it costs two bucks a shot to put some holes in paper(with saboted slugs). I won't be shootingslugs much, I can tell you that[&:].

I have an 1100 20 ga that shoots 3 in mag shells and 2 3/4 all day long. No problems with either. I shot skeet with it and I never had any problems. I would NEVER buy another Mossberg shotgun. The two that I hadwere the biggest pieces of crap I have ever owned. I had one pump 12 ga and one 5500 semi auto and both were garbage.

I had a Mossberg 500 20 gauge a while back as my first shotgun. It was alright but the damn stock cracked and it jammed up occasionally, which is not good for a pump. [>:]I don't hate them, but they aren't top of the line.
