I'v had both an XCR in 300 RUM traded it for a stanless T/C Encore
muzzleloader and then this year I got a SPS stainless in 300 RUM.
They both shot the same the XCR cost $899 the SPS cost 599 and this was after tax's.

SPS vs. XCR
I've had both and I think you would like either. The finish on the metal is pretty awsome.....is it needed? For the majority of hunters no. I had an XCR in .30-06. Good fit and finish. Shot little cloverleaf groups with Nosler 165gr. BT's. The stock is very durable, but I couldn't get used to the hollow sound it made when bumped or scratched. I sold the gun and still wish I hadn't. Throw a McMillan Edge or some other well made, solid aftermarket synthetic on there and it would have been one hell of a rifle. The SPS I had was in .270. Shot around an inch with 130gr. BT's. Sold it. Same story...wish I hadn't.
There's a decent ammout of price between the two. If your looking for little or zero cleaning/upkeep, it would be hard to beat the XCR. Or........save a little $$$ on the rifle and upgrade the glass. If you can't see that buck of your dreams at 2 minutes before legal shooting light ends, it won't really matter if your holding an XCR or an SPS.

If you are the typical hunter like I am? Then you do not need to get caught up in the XCR and waste any money. The SPS stainless is a very nice gun and will serve you well my friend.

The finish on the XCR's is nice, but I don't think that it's worth the extra money they charge for it when it comes with a synthetic stock. I thought about getting an XCR, but decided to go with an LSS Limited instead. Stainless steel and grey/black laminate. I think that it looks very sharp, and I know how to take care of my guns, so the lack of the TriNyte finish doesn't worry me.

If you have the money to buy the XCR, I'd take a look at the LSS-SF. Laminate (brown) stock, stainless barreled/action and flute barrel. It's one very nice looking rifle. If you can't tell, I'm not a huge fan of synthetic stocks, though they do have their purpose.

I purchased one three days ago and haven't had a chance to fire it, so i can't give you an accuracy review but overall I love the stock and TriNyte finish. I have Leupold mounts and a Leupold VX-3 4-12x40 scope on it and it is in my favorite whitetail cartridge, .270 Win.
The price was 769.99 plus mounts, scope, and tax (I probably could have found a better price but they had the highest offer on my savage that i traded in on). For the $$$ you can't go wrong in my opinion.

I have two Remington XCR's 25-06 and 280. They both shoot great the 25-06 will group within the size of a dime all day. I will admit they are not the prettist gun nothing like a walnut stock and blued barrel. But for an all weather gun they just cannot be beat.

Had one in 300 mag... Shot ok but really wasent as accurate as I wanted... But then again that gun is a beast to shoot accurate anyhow... I traded mine in on a Browning7mm Mag A-Bolt stainless stalker with BOSS... MOST ACCURATE GUN I'VE EVER OWNED!!!!!!!!!
