Remmington 870 for first shotgun?

Found a nice camo one to get our turkey season started, this one comes with a second rifled barrel for deer too.
Any opinions on these shotguns?

Go for it David. That's called the 870 Combo. I have the Moss 835 Combo.

For the price, you can't go wrong.

You'll get many opinions but, You've found a good gun to buy. Probably the mostpurchased pump action gun made. I have a 870 I bought many years ago. Is it the Super Mag that comes chambered for 3.5 shells? There will be a few recommending the Mossberg pump and although they are good guns andI own one of them too I feel the Remington is better. Go to your dealer and do a side by side comparison, shoulder both the Remington and the Mossberg and see which one "just feels right". Let us know what you get.

The one I am looking at is only 3", I think that should cover most bases..
I need to decide fast, turkey season starts in a week..

Hard to go wrong with an 870. Express is nothing fancy, wingmaster is the prettier one. Both will get the job done, get which ever fits you and the budget.

I ALSO HAVE THE 3" MODULE. (I HAVE A 3 1/2" AS WELL BUT THE ONLY DIFFERENCE I CAN REALLY SEE IS THE BIGGER THE SHELL THE BIGGER THE BRUISE) IT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH GO FOR IT. I DIDN'T WAIT LONG ON MINE

I purchased the 12 ga. 870 Express Magnum combo package in synthetic last fall. It came with a 23" rifled barrel with cantilever scope mount, other barrel is a 28" smooth bore. I mounted a Nikon Pro-Staff 2-7x32mm shotgun scope on the slug barrel. Price was $428.00 for rifle combo + $125.00 for scope at Gander Mountain. I shot my first deer ever at 110 yards right through the heart with Hornady's SST slugs. The factory barrel is very accurate! After sighting in at 25 yards, then at 50 yards at the rifle range, I actually hit dead center of the target bull’s-eye at 100 yards on my first attempt.

I also took it trap shooting a few weeks back and used the 28" smooth bore barrel. It wooked out great. I was also surprised to see that one of the trap shooting instructors had the same shotgun as I have.

All in all, I am very pleased with the whole package (including scope). Great value, good products.
