Skeeter7MM-

Purchased the same 17HMR several weeks ago. It shoots like a dream. Accutrigger is excellent and the groups with Hornady's 20gr XTP HP's are phenominal. My best 5 shot group was .4"
This little rimfire is as much fun as being 18 again and having a free weekendpass to the national hooker's convention!

i would opt for the .22 hornet. it can be loaded as light as a .22 short, or it can be loaded to well exceed a .22mag. its a very versatial cartrige

Isthe .22LRthe only cartridge forsemi-auto's? I noticed the .22 LR is the only cartridge for anautoloader. I could be wrong. Is there a way for the Ruger 10/22 to use either .17 HMR or .22 hornet?

Are the rimfire cartridges the only semi-auto's? I noticed the .22 LR is the only autoloader. I could be wrong. Is there a way for the Ruger 10/22 to use either .17 HMR or .22 hornet?
You can swap out barrels on the 10/22 and turn it into a .17 HM2, or, if you choose the .22 Mag, you can change barrels to go with a .17HMR. I am not sure if Ruger is doing a 10/17 yet or not. I do know they have a 77/17. The .22 Hornet is a center fire cartridge, and you will not be able to use it with a 10/22 action. I have personally never come accross anything .22 Hornet in a semi auto, of course, that certainly doesn't mean that they are not out there somewhere.

Yes, the Hornet is the way to go. Get a .22 Hornet in a Handi-Rifle.You can re-load .22 Hornet for about 12 cents per round if you shop for bullets. This is cheaper than.17 and .22 magnum ammo. The .22 Hornet is heads above any rimfire .17 or .22 cartridge. It is easy to geta 45 grain bullet up to over 2,600 fps in the .22 Hornet. Killed a lot of coyotesand a few hogs with the .22 Hornet. There is also a .17 version of the Hornet-the .17 Ackley K-Hornet. Have a BSA Martini that caliber.
