RE: Savage All Weather vs. Remington sps stainless

I bought my son a Savage 16 7mm-08. Here are my observations.

Good:
The rifle is very accurate
The Accutrigger is awesome

Bad:
Even though the rifle is stainless, itsalready showing signs of surface rust on the trigger guard, magazine housing and magazine.[:@]This is totally unacceptable.

I've owned numerous Ruger rifles over years and not a single one has ANY signs of rust on them. There is definitely a difference in the quality of the stainless used by Ruger and Savage.

Summary:
I still personally prefer stainless/synthetic Ruger M-77 MK/IIsand Remignton 700 BDL LSSs.:)

Yep, same here! I have a rifle that will last me a life time and I can make it/myself a better shooter. Not that I'm shooting all that bad with it now that I found the right manufactured round, Federal Power Shock 150 grain soft points. This year I'm also gonna try Hornaday's, I hear they are exceptional with Rugers.

Try that Savage trigger with gloves on...then buy the Remmy.

What cartridge are you looking at?

7mm rem mag

Money is a bit of an issue. Im in college so dont want to spend to much. The ruger may be out of the question due to price

I would buy a Remington but not the SPS stainless, go for one of the leftover LSS. Laminated Stainless Steel. Bud's Gun Shop has one leftover at a great price, get it before I talk myself into buying it.

The price is darn good considering what all you're getting in a sturdy, beautiful, stainless rifle. But yeah, if you're not that much into it and just looking for a good rifle then the SPS blued version is about $100 cheaper or you can get the Savage package deal which is a good deal also.

Usually, there isVERY little price difference between a Ruger M-77 stn/syn and a Savage 16 Weather Warrior?????

Also, don't forgetRuger includesscope rings with all their rifles! This alone will save youeven more! When you look at the whole picture I bet you can buy the Ruger for the same price as the Savage....or less!:)

The Savage is a really good gun. I have used the Weather Warrior to down some deer. Mine is a 243. A very accurate rifle indeed.

I vote for the Remington or the Ruger.
