RE: 7m-08 120 HP for deer
You are right Ranger. The Barnes 120 would would work well for deer in the 7MM-08. I just bought a box for mine. I quesss I don't consider the Barnes bullet a hollow point by traditional standards. Barnes makes a light solid for most calibers for varmits. Good point though.

RE: 7m-08 120 HP for deer
I have used those Rem.120's hp and took 7 or 8 Bucks with them from that one box. I gave the rest to the man who bought the rifle last year. Try to keep yer shots into the lung area, i have had pass thru's. Chest on shots generally didn't get pass thru's, unless quartering. I never lost a deer using them, but i never shot one over 200 yds. either. If i was shooting big bodied deer at longer ranges i would step up to the 140gr. bullets. Recoil isn't much difference between the 2, you can always load it at starting loads. I don't think anything will just up and walk away from a solid hit.

Yep, you can get away with it sometimes. I've killed 300 pound hogs with 22 rimfires. Not advisable though.
