Surely that's a trigger adjustment problem. Too little sear engagement. Another problem I see occasionally with 700 triggers that's even more dangerous is an overtravel adjustment issure. If the overtravel is adjusted too tight, you'll get a "click" when the trigger is pulled. Gun won't fire, but as soon as you move the bolt upward a little it fires. Very dangerous. Both problems are easy fixes.

While easily corrected, this is very common with the remy 700's. It's scary!!!

This is the main reason I haven't purchased or owned a Remington 700 in several years. If I were to buy one, and I probably will for a future custom project, the trigger would be the first thing to be replaced.

It happend to me to i had a 700 in 30-06 i bought from a gun shop used and it would only do it here and there so you never knew when it was going to do it or not.I took it to the gunsmith and he said it was from somebody cleaning it to much. He said they put to much oil in it and it had hardend over the saftey system and the trigger system.He cleaned it and told me to spray it with something like wd-40 every so often.but it shoots fine now.
