RE: tikka T3 rifles
I think I got the 25/06 back in the spring and it was $569,+tax and the varmit just got it a couple weeks ago and it was $719 +tax but if I had got the varmit last month it would have been $650 +tax.I was going to wait till next year to get the varmit but found out the prices were climbing so decided to go ahead and get it.
I finally gave up on the 25/06 and sent it back today to see what was wrong with it.Out of about 25 tikkas of my friends this is the only one that wouldn't shoot constantly.Hope they get it fixed I loved shooting it. One friend bought one of the 308 varmits Has 2 Now,and had it rechambered for 30/06 and it really shoots also. stubblejumper thanks for the site gastonia is just down the road about 30 minutes for me. |

RE: tikka T3 rifles
Hello everyone new to forum. Seems like a very intersting place to hang out. Noticed there was mention about trigger adjustments on the tikka's. I need to know how to adjust the weight of trigger pull. I had my rifle cleaned and ever since the trigger is very light. Almost to light. It's a m695 270win., laminate stock and stainless barrel. Just paired it up today with the Nikon buckmaster 3x9x40 with the BDC reticle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and look forward to hanging out with all you fello hunters.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
Well I have a T-3 not a 695 model but on mine all you have to do is remove the barrel and action from the stock and adjust an allen screw on the front of the trigger assembly. Turn one way to increase and the other to lighten. Simple as pie.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
Sent the 25/06 tikka back on 9/28 got it back 10/18,think that was pretty fast service.Don't know what they did to it but it works now.Compareing the crown to my 308 and friends tikka's looks like the crown was touched up.Whatever the best thing is that now it shoots consistantly.
Shot it friday and every load I shot in it was one inch or less several were one holers except for one load, that load I had loaded with 2 different primers, with one I got the biggest group about 2 inches with the other I got 1/4 in group. Was at a friends house then that has a 100 yd range in his back yard, let him shoot some groups and he couldn't believe how the rifle had changed since he shot it last time.He has a bunch of tikkas and sako's. Went back to the public range yesterday where I shoot every week with a buddie that can really shoot. He had kept the rifle a few weeks before I had sent it back and gave up on it.I let him shoot it first and he couldn't believe the rifle had changed that much.He had brought several loads that he had tried before and every one of them shot less than an inch at 100 yds, some were one holer and some were less than 1/2 inch. When I got it back I started to just leave it in the box and sell it because all they sent back was a copy of a target that they had shot and no explanation what they did.But decided to put the scope back on and give it a try, sure glad I did,now don't know which load I want to shoot in it. No its not for sale now:) |
RE: tikka T3 rifles
Todd1700 thanks alot for that info on trigger adjustment. Mine had the little allan screw. It worked perfect and I'm much mor comfortable now. One more question though, should I be using some sort of lock tight? It looks like there was originaly some used...? thanks aqain.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I just read every single post on this thread! You guys have me fired up with all these awesome groups your shooting. I just bought a 300wsm T3 Lite Syn SS camo today! I wanted an all black but the only thing they had was they sscamo for the 300. I almost got a 270wsmin black ss...I already have a 270 winand Ijust wanted a30cal for thearsonal. It was only a $120 more than the black on black and being impatient I went ahead and got it. I can't wait to take this to the range tomorrow! The trigger on this thing is unbelievable.
What kind of factory ammo have you guys had luck with? I'm trying Fed 165 nosler solid base to start off with. I'm also glad they are quick about fixing the gun if something is wrong with it. Thats some serious customer service! |

RE: tikka T3 rifles
Thats a great idea with the nailpolish. Thanks. Don't know why cleaning it ever changed the trigger in the first place but I know it got a lot lighter after wards. In fact when it was finished I would work the action and it would fire. Has anyone else had this happen?Eventually after cleaning it again and running the action it got better but never back to normal until now.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I took my tikka 300wsm out to the range again today. Weather was alot more condusive today. I still had to shoot a few at 50yds to get it close. My first 2 shots at 100yd were a click low and 3" to the left. I moved it over and up and I put the next 3 2" high dead center. It was shooting very close to a 1" grouping. After 8 or 9 shots that gun starts to get to you a little...I knowIwas flinching some.Plus I'm shooting off towels which aren't the greatest rest. I wish I had a lead sled to see what it will really do. Either way I dare ole bucky to come by me with it.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
When I was at Dick's last week I took a look at a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless they had there. It was one of the rifles I was considering buying once I get my firearms purchaser's card. After looking here it seems like there really isn't anything bad anyone's saying about them, and $500 was less than I thought I'd be spending on a rifle too. I'm gonna probably go for 7mm-08 or .30-06.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I've always been a remington person but after feeling and shooting my new Tikka its going to be hard spending money on something different. Ok.maybe I'll splurge one day and get me a Sako. I'm thinking about getting my wife a 7-08 in the t3 also. And like you said $498 for a black on black syn you can't beat it.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I bought a t3 two years ago in .300wsm. I absolutely love it. It has definitely turned into my favorite rifle.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I'm using Federal Premium Vital Shocks. I'd like to reload but I really don't need another hobby. I work offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and I am gone every other month. Don't want to spend my time off messing with a reloader.:)

RE: tikka T3 rifles
10-4. I'm shooting 165gr Fed nosler solid base myself. It grouped pretty good but I think I could get something a little better.
You must live close to the gulf if you work there. I'm over here in P'cola FL. |
RE: tikka T3 rifles
i took my T3 varmint ( 22-250) to the range yesterday, and lo and behold, there were no less than 5 other T3 varmints there in various calibres ( ranging up from mine to one in 300wsm). plus another lad had a T3 hunter. thats a hell of a lot of tikka's from a field of around 20 shooters. word of how well these things shoot is spreading.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I have the T3 Hunter in 30-06with a 4.5x14x42 Burris on top.reach out a touch something.I will never get reid of this set up.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I can vouch for the accuracy of these tikka t3's. My brother in law bought one in '03 in the .300 wsm. I really loved the feel of the gun. It just seems to fit me perfectly. I was also surprised at how well it shot. It took 3 shots to zero it in, and with factory ammunition shot slightly better than the 1" groups advertised. For the money, it's a great gun IMHO.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
Too bad you guys came to the Tikka table late. I have a Whitetail hunter from Tikka and it is just awesome. Probably between a T3 and a Sako in most aspects. Still, the T3's are the best rifle out there right now for the money in my opinion. I'd definitely consider them first and formost when looking for a new rifle. Truth be told I might save my pennies and hold out for a Sako for my next rifle, maybe one of those nice light ones.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I couldn't take it anymore. I had to get another Tikka. I had a Steyr 7mm Mag (rifle only)and decided to take it to the local gun shop to see what they would give me on trade. When the guy told me $700 I didn't waste anytime telling him what I wanted to trade for. I got a T3 .308 black on black andtopped it with a zeiss 3x9x40 and only had to putanother$150in on the hole deal. I can't wait to shootthis thing.
I know someone will say I can't believe you traded a Steyr for a Tikka. I traded a 44mag and scope for the Steyr a few weeks ago and decided afterwards that I didn't really want a 7mag after all. I liked the gun but it had a 26" barrel and was heavy as all get out. I already have a 300wsm and a 270 so I decided that Id rather have a short action lite weight rifle to take on long hauls and short range shot situations. If it shoots as good as my 300wsm t3 there is no doubt I made a good decision. |
RE: tikka T3 rifles
I own a tikka T3 Lite in 300 WSM. Elk hunting in Colorado this year and the weather was terrible. I was very glad that I had a synthetic stock and stainless steel barrel. I am getting ready to purchase a .243 for coyotes and will be purchasing the same rifle. For the money I don't think that you can go wrong. The recoil was a little much if you put more than 20 rounds through it. I put a simms pad on mine and it cut the recoil in half.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I have owned a Tikka T3 Lite for a year now in a 7mm-08. Spent the summer smokin woodchucks with different loads. This thing really shoots. Shot a nice 6pt. a couple weeks ago from 289 yds. Excellent!! I also have an Ithaca LSA 55 in a 22-250 that I bought back in 1972, made by Sako like the Tikka, A REAL TACK DRIVER!! GREAT GUNS!!

.308 T3 Lite Black on Black
1st group is left and a tad high. 2nd group is left and adjusted down 1/2" 3rd group adjusted to center andup 1/4" This is using a shooting bench and a some towels. I wish I had a gun rest or some bags where I could get super steady. I think this is good enough for government work though. |

RE: tikka T3 rifles
I currently have a BSA CF2 in 243w which is too heavy and want to replace it. The Tikka T3 litehas to be a good choice judging from what is written. My options are SS syn inblackor camo, 243 or 25-06.I mainly shoot pigs in the bush (woods) andopen country. I have a few questions for those who have used a T3 syn for serveral years. I know they shoot great etc, but what about other areas of the rifle.
1- what is the durability of the syn stock, doesthe black stockmark, scuff or wear in general use. Does the camo surface suffer at all and show black if marked. Basically what does the T3 look like after a few years. 2- I like the 243w low recoil and noise and it works well for me, if I'm going to upgrade should I also go for the 25-06. What would be the main difference between the two rounds, does one better suit the T3 barrel length. Regardsfrom Darwin, Australia. |
RE: tikka T3 rifles
If given the choice of calibers I'd lean toward the 25-06 just due to it being slightly more versatile for hunting bigger (deer-sized) game.

RE: tikka T3 rifles
Its been awhile since I posted on here but just got through reading about the tikka again.I don't or haven't shot the tikka very much lately because have been shooting other rifles, just got through rebarreling a savage with a 260 shelin barrel and got one of the savages F/tr 308's Both are shooting great just like the tikkas though.
Last summer my shooting buddie and I went to a 1000 yd range they didn't have any targets up but did have the shotgun birds that you check your rifle before matches.Buddie took 2 rifles but they didn't do well at 1000.He spotted for me and I zeroed the tikka in on one of the birds,it took me a lot of shots but ended up busting 3 clays, let my buddie shoot it and he got 2 clays in a row with 2 shots.I guess first time luck had a lot to do with it because it was the first time either of us had shot a 1000 yds.We keep saying we are going back but never have it a good distance away from us. I did try working up a load with the sie 135 bullets and will post it below.Tried a different powder with the hornady 130's and they shot as good as they did with the 4320IMR. ![]() |
