Absolutely not Teddee. These people rate their Kimbers, Baers, Browns, etc. against the Taurus. Sure, they are a better handgun. They should be for $1000 and up. What I am calling ignorant are the people who give their opinions without any experience with a particular handgun. Its true many years ago, Taurus was junk. But no more. What I am saying is that for around $500 the Taurus PT1911 is a good deal. BTW, I won't shun you Norinco. My first 1911 copy was a Ballaster Molino that I shot the crap out of and it just kept on shooting until I finally sold it.
Let them put the Taurus down all they want. I'm more than happy with mine and intend to keep it for a long time. |
where....
Where are you people buying your guns? Where I live a nice Taurus 1911 will set you back about $650-$700 and a Kimberly is $1,200-$1,400, I am in the market for a 1911 and I am good friends with the owner of one our local gun stores and he can't even get them that that cheap at cost

You can't get much gun for $400 dollars anymore. Heck a good revolver could cost that much. If you want a cheap auto maybe look at the highpoints. I wouldn't trust my life to one though.
Sounds like you got a good deal on the kimber though. Paul yeah i defnitly wouldnt put my self behind a hi-point with someone shooting at me. im a security guard and one of the guys i was qualifing with was using one and he couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with it and not only that it kept jaming. i lent the guy a glock 22 and he quald first try. but now i want a 1911 and found the taurus pt and thought it was a good deal. waiting to shoot one and try it out.:fighting0007: |

I want to know the same thing! I've never seen a Taurus PT1911 around me for less than 600 bucks, and have never seen a Kimber (new) for less than 900.

Well blacktored you are a very disillusioned individual. When was the last time you actually handled and shot a new Taurus? I have their 1911 in .45 ACP and 9mm and also a model 605 revolver (2" .357). I have a few thousand rounds thru the .45, about 1000 thru the 9mm only about 200 thru the 605. But out of all this shooting I never once had a single jam, stovepipe, or other malfunction. And both the 1911 will punch tight little groups off a rest. Trust my life to my Taurus? You can bet your sweet a$$.

The Taurus 1911 is a well made gun. Mine is a tack driver and I have never had a malfunction. I'd trust my life to it any day! In fact, I've got 3 Taurus' they are not "custom" guns but all are "quality" guns.
