It's no-frills, SA-reliable. Can't say it's "ragged-hole-accurate", but I wasn't expecting it to be.
Looking for something more compact for carry purposes, I went in one day looking for an EMP (not available in .45), handled some Kimbers, but walked out with an Exeter SIG 220 Carry Elite that glued itself into my hand. It's anything but light, but it's a shooter - I've never handled a pistol that points so naturally as the SIG. The SRT trigger ... what a difference it makes over other SIGs I've fired.
But, going back to the OP, sounds like a good deal on the Kimber, if you're looking for a $400 1911, you're looking used, parts, or lesser-quality. At the Mil-spec price point, I've also heard good things about RIA. Of course, no experience myself, but when I was looking at Kimbers, a couple friends who are 1911 fanatics both recommended aftermarket magazines and a very deliberate break-in period if I were to have bought one.

A couple of months ago I was invited to a bowling pin shoot with my Taurus 1911. I shot against Les Baers, Kimbers, Springfields and Browns. I won't say my Taurus is better than any of these handguns. But then again, it didn't cost near as much. And oh yeah, I walked away with first place. That Taurus, what a disappointment....NOT.

Yeah right! Pay for a "name" or get value for your $$$!
PT 1911= more bang for your buck! OR, pay more dough for show!

If you were offered a STI or Springfield for the same price as the Taurus, which would you want?
That's what I thought.

Sorry Risasi - its obvious you are ignorant about the Taurus 1911. As I said before, for around $500 you won't find a better made 1911 with the features as the Taurus PT1911. Personally I don't care for the Springfields. Now if you offered me a Kimber or Les Baer for $500, yeah, I probably would take that over the Taurus. But for the price of ONE of these, I can buy TWO Taurus. Or one Taurus and a whole bunch of ammo.
