270 wsm ammo
 

I am going out next weekend to shoot my new tikka 270 wsm. It was suggested to me to try nosler accubond. I noticed it only came in 140 grain. I was told to stay away from ballestic tip. I will be hunting deer at first and maybe elk. some feedback on ammo that the 270wsm shooters are using would be great!! Thank you

This is a great elk bullet; and should performon deer as well. I have used it in the .270 Ackley at about 3300 fps. Even though the Accubond had a plastic tip, it is not a ballistic tip. Accubonds are a bonded bullet with enough penetration to break an elk's shoulder and still penetrate into the lungs. Two otherproven .270 bullets for deer/elk are the Swift Scirocco (original, not the Scirocco 2) and the Trophy Bonded.

For deer the accubond should work lovely. I have no experience with it on elk from a .277 though. However I have used a .270 to harvest both elk and moose previously with 150 Nosler parts and 140 failsafes. Another you could try is the 130 Barnes TSX. Either of these are proven elk takers and should workwell from your 270 wsm when elk are on tap.

As far as the Ballistic Tip advice, I agree for elk but for deer it has been my goto for many years in a variety of cartidges. I have never had one problem anchoring our larger bodied canadian deer when using the NBT. I am not sying it is a better bullet then the AB, but if it shoots more accurately and fits into your hunting situation...I would use it.

FWIW, I have used the AB to harvest deer, elk and moose in 160gr out of my 7mm rem mag...worked fine in all cases. I plan on loading some 140's for deer and pronghorn hunts this fall, if they prove good on paper. For elk I'll be sticking with 140 gr TSX which worked in 05' on a bull moose and elk to perfection.

Last season I used the Accubonds in my 270 WSM and it had worked well although it wasn’t a long distance shot for my deer. I’ve had good results as for accuracy with this bullet and also use the Accubond for 7mm-08. I have never used ballistic tip bullets so I really can’t comment on it. Good luck...

IMO the Nos Bt are the best bullet you can get for deer. Not the best for elk though. I dont think a bonded bullet is all that importand for deer.

The New Federal Fusions are as far as one would need to look. They come in the 150 grain but are supposed to be available in 130 grain this year. Great new factory load. I would never even try anything else again in the 270 Win. I took Nine mule deer with nine shots this fall with the 130 grain Fusions everyone performed text book style. I just bought a box for my 308 as well. The 150 grainers.

i have 2 boxes of 270 WSM that i accidentally bought for my 270, but i dont have a wsm i have a normal 270. So, since these bullets are so expensive (like 30 a box) i thought i might try to sell them. ill sell them cheap, just pm me or email me, thanks

I loaded up the 140gr AccuBonds for my buddies 270WSM last fall and they did a very very very good job on the whitetails he shot with it, and his fiance shot an elk with them as well. The elk went about 40 yards and expired after she made a 245yard shot on it.

I think the Accubond would be a good all game bullet. For deer only I would probably use a non premium bullet. However a 110-120 grain Accubond would get my attention.
